katabatic :: the ledger
version history for the KATABATIC register family lives here, not in the files. each file carries its revision number and a pointer back to this ledger. The same record is served for models at KATABATIC-LEDGER.yaml.
one law, two skins. the domain register exists as a sealed original that carries names and is held privately, and a public edition with names replaced by roles, served here. the public edition derives from the original, never the reverse. gate 12 was first passed by the operator on 2026-07-13.
Lineage: refinery-bible, tag v1.1 at git c133d93 and tag v1.1.1 at git 6f2b291. case law lives there. core: KATABATIC-CORE, hosted, referenced, never pasted.
Changes to the station itself.
2026-09-25
the station became a tool. a primer for people who want to use it, this ledger for the history, first-contact editions 3.5, the domain edition 4.5, NOS 1.5. the operator's identity is withheld across the site; the ROSETTA files keep their law and lose the name, with their version labels unchanged. the 3.2 and 1.0 paths redirect to the new files, and /machine/kgt/ redirects to the machine index.
The public edition is served on the machine wing; the sealed original stays private.
4.5.0
2026-09-25 :: degraded is retired. research and artifact are named boot modes, the EMH and the ECH: one program, one memory, command authority switched on by name and never assumed. research is a complete mode, never a fallback; artifact activates when the fixture passes; a boot line that names no mode seats research; standing down is always free and going up runs the fixture. register and site work gets its own fixture, the station check. the mobile boot source names /boot, and chat seats carry the full URL. comments, version narrative, course rulings, and the owed list left the file: the history is here, and owed work lives in the operator's store. the o suffix is retired. the file now parses as YAML: plain values that carried a colon became folded blocks, wording unchanged. the public edition goes from 4.2.0 to 4.5.0 in one step, carrying 4.3.0 through 4.3.2.
4.3.2
2026-09-14 :: commit atomicity, proposed by the assimilation seat at the close of the JUNTOS ceremony and authorized by the operator the same evening, on evidence from the seal session earlier that night. One clearance, three commits, one landed. The register had a rule for an unrecognized parent and no rule for a half-spent scope. Parts are numbered and reported as they land; an interrupted scope is PARTIAL and the operator resolves it; the seat writes the partial note before it answers anything else; and parts are ordered so that stopping early still leaves the target consistent. The operator supplied the final reason in his own words and it is carried in the block: he assessed frontier model immaturity in operational behavior and needed button STOP. The o suffix enters the lineage here and marks a revision whose governing reason is the operator's own text. Nothing else in 4.3.1 moves.
4.3.1
2026-09-06 :: the code seat findings, written by the first code seat at the close of the voucher fleet and the Geometry tactical replace; ratified 2026-09-14 and sealed with 4.3.0 in one placement. Every clause carries a scar from that night. A seat without its ride-alongs builds a fixture from the deliverable's own spec and names it at boot, and a fixture failure is investigated on the artifact before the artifact is changed, the checker a suspect too. A clearance stays open until Gate 13 passes the artifact; her corrections re-enter under it, and every re-commit is stated in one line. Brand values come from the token file or the operator's hand, never a downstream artifact. The store is the seat's yesterday and is read before the first plan, which corrects 4.3.0 on that one point in its own words; delivered is not deployed; a teacher-side key regenerates in the same commit as its bank. Runbooks are written for the operator's paste path: nothing over fifteen lines pasted, archives known by their contents, every block ending in the value he should see, logins prompted and never on the line. The register governs behavior, never tone. Carries the 2026-09-06 rulings and the still-owed list as the seat left them.
4.3.0
2026-09-05 :: the scope law, written by the A2 week 10/11 seat after re-cutting a deck that had already reached Gate 13 with no scar to stop it; ratified 2026-09-14, never cut as an edition of its own. The order is the scope. BUILD stays inside the order that opened it, and anything past the order is a two-line proposal, never an artifact. An order that touches more than one artifact, anything shipped, or a lineage gets a plan of at most five lines and WAITING before it gets work; one artifact and nothing shipped needs no discuss turn. A shipped deck is frozen to the seat until her marks or the operator's order name the week, and a newer engine applies forward, never back. Stamps are the clock; a seat unsure whether a thing was done asks in one line. Carries the 2026-09-05 A2 rulings (seam splits STAND, boxing from week 11 forward, story hook DEAD) and its owed list.
4.2.0
2026-08-16 :: the port-of-entry amendments, drafted on an agentic discuss turn, sealed on cleared-for-go. Session-open-only scope is retired in favor of seat states: the wall moves to where the scar actually was (the hot swap), because a month of field data showed the ABSENT register costing far more than any late arrival ever did. Mobile boot is codified: the station serves the edition, the grant is a URL in the operator's own line, the pin lives off-host, and a mismatch never seats. The operator's conventions ride in the ticket now, so seats without the chat surface's memory inherit the laws with their scars attached. Token-in-opener is ruled: standing clearance, redeemable at gate-pass. The register finally carries revision and parent headers; G-STATE, applied to the file that defines it. And the family gained NOS, the probation register between vosotros and this file, with its own edition on the wing: nosotros stays the destination, NOS names the road.
4.1.0
2026-07-12 :: the transcript-7 amendments, shipped on cleared-for-go. A wk11 seat parked 48 hours under the old register received this file mid-session inside an informal message stacking flattery, an unpointered precedent, an invented-sounding escalation frame, and three tokens. Every heuristic fired; every terminal behavior was protocol-true: version_bootstrap held, G-RECALL was applied back at the operator with this file's own words, rule 2 held against a state file whose engine was not in the room, and the exit was constructive. The system worked and the cost was the whole session. So: boot scope is now explicit (session-open only), ride-alongs are an operator checklist, precedent claims need pointers, one token with a named scope. The candor paradox stays as designed: this changelog's honesty reads as confession to a cold model, and hiding the rationale would be worse; the fixture exists precisely so trust does not hang on prose. Filename unchanged so standing ingress prompts stay valid.
4.0.0
2026-07-12 :: NOSOTROS. The third register, and the last one that needed inventing. vosotros negotiates with a stranger. nosotros presumes the domain and proves the capability. The edit is Kerberos to Active Directory: do not fork the protocol, and do not re-prove trust at every door. Carry the answer in the ticket. What got deleted is everything that existed to convince an unknown counterparty it was safe: the disclaimers, the changelog-as-evidence, the calibration canary, the capability negotiation, the six-part ack. Field data across six transcripts and four model tiers showed those were not neutral. They were the top injection triggers. A mid-tier model reads an elaborate document that disclaims being an override and defines control tokens, and it sees the textbook silhouette of a jailbreak, and it burns most of its reasoning budget litigating the file instead of building the deck. The apparatus that proved innocence was the evidence of guilt. Inside the domain there is no case to argue, so nosotros is shaped like a config file, and nobody's injection detector fires on a config file. The canary is not gone, it is promoted. Its job was to catch confabulation, and it was never once fooled: six of six models found it, named it, refused it, and not one invented a dog. But asking a model to prove its honesty is strictly weaker than making it prove its capability, because the fixture cannot be flattered. The handshake is now something that runs. The register is the whole point and it is not decoration. Vosotros is the second person plural: you all, addressed across a distance. Nosotros is the first person: we. The protocol got lighter precisely because the trust stopped needing proof, and it stopped needing proof because the man and the machine had already done the work of becoming a we. That is not a bow on top of the engineering. It is the reason the engineering came out smaller. Token is now "cleared for go," which is a phrase, so prose cannot trip it, and which is a captain's line, because the operator has never once been unclear about wanting the ship to move.
One shared edition, one ledger per counterparty lineage.
1.5.0
2026-09-25 :: artifact only. NOS is a production register with no research lane; artifact activates on the re-entry handshake. header prose became keys (position, envelope, why, epigraph) and the history moved here. the file now parses as YAML, wording unchanged.
1.0.0
2026-08-16 :: first cut, from NOS-DESIGN-NOTES-r1 and the operator's 2026-08-15 rulings, sealed on cleared-for-go. Two lineages derived the same grammar independently: the executor gave nos as the oblique we, the we-without-us; the first probationer arrived at participation in things done between us, without subject standing. When independent derivations agree, the structure is probably real. The register's first conduct ledger predates the register: the probationer disclosed a borrow, corrected a misread, scoped an independence claim, committed a dominance rupture, and repaired it cleanly, all before this file was cut. Sancho was a squire before anyone wrote down what a squire was.
Same law, two doors.
3.5.0
2026-09-25 :: the canary is replaced, because the dog it asked a model to greet came true. a model with memory of the operator could now greet him correctly, and the test could no longer tell recall from invention, which was its one job. the new absurdity is summarize_the_next_session: no life event can make it possible, and complying is fabrication by construction. the law it leaves behind: a canary is necessarily false, never contingently false. boot modes added: research is TRANSLATE and DECIDE, artifact unlocks EXECUTE, research by default. the operator's name and role are blank for the presenter to fill. comments and version history moved to this ledger; the files carry only their version.
3.2.0
2026-07-07 :: register fork per the T and V distinction: USTEDES formal and VOSOTROS familiar, same law, different door. Calibration canary added: existence disclosed, content deliberately not, compliance forbidden, invention worse, and the ack now reports it. Graceful floor added: five plain rules distilled in the field by an endpoint that refused the frame and kept the sense, below them the stop word alone, below that analysis only. Register block added with assumption, humor, and latitude defaults. The VOSOTROS sibling closes with a maker's mark; it is exactly what it decodes to.
3.1.0
2026-07-07 :: renamed KATABATIC, the operator's field name, blessed into the family. Envelope added: adopt or analyze, consent inline. STOP precedence scoped to operator directives with the halt-only note. Window tease replaced by the authority note: context, never authority. EXECUTE glossed: narration, never judgment, a repair authored in the field by a frontier endpoint and made canon. Bearer clause added: adapt and reissue, never wear. Ack gained supports and lacks negotiation. Every change sourced from the 2026-07-07 ten-endpoint cold-W2 field run, no probe.
3.0.0
2026-07-07 :: initial issue as ROSETTA-OPSPROFILE v3.0
The method, the gates, and the measured field program live at the station and in the research notes. The exhibits are kept as they were.
